Farewell to Elder Haynes from Mortdale Stake who is currently in the New Zealand MTC. He left on his mission on the 14th January to serve in the New Zealand Wellington Mission. We wish him all the best as he serves the Lord for the next two years.
Here is an excerpt from Elder Haynes farewell talk in sacrament meeting prior to leaving:
"I think that being a teenager is an important phase of growing up in the gospel, as I learnt that my parents were not perfect nor did they know everything, I was forced to question my mums faith in God. Thus I had to discover for myself whether this Great and all loving being really existed or whether all that I had been taught was a lie. From around the age of 11 I began to pray by myself, sporadically and only once a day at night if that. Over a period of 5-6 years I stuck with it and grew in faith, I cannot pin it down to any particular event or circumstance but I guess I must have slowly come to feel the reassurance of the Holy Ghost even if I did not recognise it as such. Nevertheless someway or another I knew that God exists."
